The mind is the battleground. And satan will have you stinking in your thinking and God's Holy Spirit will have you blessing and loving and helping others.
Example: your at work. You don’t know anything about what is going on in the minds of your coworkers. You acknowledge a co-worker and they don’t respond at all. Totally ignoring you!
Now satan works in the mind. and he gets to work and you start having thoughts about ‘how rude they are’, ‘how they don’t like you’, ‘how nobody likes you’, ‘who do they think they are!’, ‘I will show them and get them back’, etc…
Break! Pause! They were actually caught up trying to remember whether or not they had put their child’s lunch in the backpack before dropping them off at school and didn’t even hear you. Not rude, only distracted.
But you now think you have an enemy and are trying to get back at them or be rude to them – and they didn’t even do anything!!!
Or maybe they were walking in the door and couldn’t hear you because the noise outside was louder than your voice, Or they were struggling to ‘keep it together’ and battling in their mind about a fight they had with their spouse that morning and were lost in their own thoughts. Or maybe they were busy thinking about a project they had to complete that morning on a pressing deadline!
NOTICE: None of that was about you! They were NOT doing anything to you. They were caught up in themselves and their own struggles.
Now God’s Spirit also works in the mind and will have you give mercy, realizing possible things that could be happening and instead reach out to them later – connecting with them, listening, offering to help out, and making sure that they are okay and giving them an encouraging word (because you never know what people are going thru, even though they are smiling)!
Connection. Warmth. Kindness. Positivity. Understanding.
When you are going thru tough days, this is how you want others to treat you and this is how God wants you to behave around others.
